…The amazing amazon’s empowerment initiatives bring home hopes, rekindle aspirations and advance a forward-looking thought, the community pray
It has been the most abandoned and most neglected local government for two tenures after the Nyako led government. Maiha is one of the five local governments that make up the Northern Senatorial District of Adamawa state, Northeast Nigeria, referred to as the M5; Mubi North, Mubi South, Maiha, Michika and Madagali.
The presence of the former governors during the tenures in question, was only felt during the electioneering campaign, the swearing in following the election created barriers to the relationship between the leader and the led with the community.
The rule of law, equality before the law and fundamental human rights that enrich participatory democracy will not be enjoyed in Maiha after Nyako as exemplified in the executive denial of the approval of appointment of the District Head of Jalingo-Maiha even when the High Court, the Appeal Court judgments and the mandatory injunction compelling the governor to approve the appointment by the state Chief Judge were issued.
“All the 21 local government areas can be visited by the governors after the swearing in, complaints can be entertained and projects if awarded can be inspected, these executive functions are not to apply to Maiha for the periods of two tenures after Nyako, we keep imagining how those elected from our constituency and from the local government the appointed feel completely comfortable with the unfortunate development that they cannot change the narrative yet cannot surrender the appointment in solidarity to their constituency,” the radical youth Friday, would lament, having observed Jumu’at prayer, with supplication also against injustice, wishing victory for the amazing amazon.
Nyako would not let the issue of monarchy in Jalingo-Maiha go beyond the executive handle, he was reported to have conveyed to the Emirate Council to recommend a crown chief from the children of Ubandoma the late District Head, he would approve the appointment without delay.
There was however a delay in the preparation for the recommendation by the Emirate Council beyond the untimely exit of Nyako, the Baba Maimangoro who launched the “O jippa tan” campaign slogan in Maiha that brought down Bindow.
Maiha is a Beneficiary of the skills acquisition centre in addition, to Pella-Maiha Road among other projects. The indigenes also benefited from the social welfare scheme, which suddenly stopped with his unlawful impeachment; never experienced in the state, never ever even thought would happen in the state considering the politics of father and sons, with children considered as united brothers; depicting the cereal packet family playing in the political Adamawa.
“A hope for unity, love and mutual confidence come with Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed, a.k.a Binani, who carries along, not only the constituents in Adamawa Central Senatorial District, but the entire state citizenry as exemplified in the Bill she graciously sponsored for the establishment of Federal Medical Centre, FMC Mubi, which she followed vigorously to its successful actualisation.
“Maiha, like other local government areas of the state, has benefitted from the welfare packages, empowerment initiatives and palliative, initiated, facilitated and/or sponsored by the political heroine, the APC governorship candidate, beyond campaign gamble.
“Maiha indeed endured two tenures of neglect and abandonment. There’s however a blissful tenure with one having compassionate heart who carries everybody along, irrespective of gender, ethnicity or religion. There indeed lies hope with Binani,” a sage would remark.
