Prof Adamu Bakari Girei has assumed responsibility following his appointment as Chief Medical Director, CMD, Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital, M.A.U.T.H Yola, Adamawa state.
Addressing the top management of the hospital Wednesday, during the handling over, Bakari revealed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has found him deem fit for the position of CMD for the period of four years from February 15, 2024, and was presented the appointment letter yesterday, Tuesday, February 20, 2024.
Commending the Chairman Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC) Dr Ahmadu Baba Usman who served as acting CMD, along with the entire management staff for a period close to one year, Bakari said having been handed over the instrument of authority it has become necessary for him to assume responsibility today.
Worthy of commendation, Bakari added, were the previous chief executives of the hospital, Dr Aminu Mohammed Mai, Dr, Ali Danburam and Prof Auwal Muhammad Abubakar whose contributions in translating the hospital from a paper to what it is today are beyond comment.
Governance is a continuous process, Prof Bakari said he would rely heavily on the former chief executives with the support and cooperation of the members of staff and management of the institution to be able realise the dream of efficiency and effectiveness in healthcare service delivery, as a collective undertaking.
The CMAC, having congratulated the new CMD, assured him of the maximum support and cooperation of the entire staff and management of the hospital.
