Nadabo ends tenure as GM ATV Yola
By Dr. Adamu Muhammad Dodo
It would be the second time that Alhaji Yusuf Nadabo Usman, would have his time through at Adamawa Television Corporation (ATV) Yola.
I met the lecturer turned media practioner at television station having returned from one year mandatory service aimed at strengthening unity in diversity and fostering mutual coexistence, called NYSC. That was in 2000.
I benefitted from the wealth of experience of the likes of Nadabo for about two years of my stay in ATV Yola.
I left for a postgraduate knowledge upgrade, where I would have to decide either having it in a university within the country or at Kingston, Jamaica where I would be billed for a national in Diaspora assignment but certainly, not to be in tune with “what’s gwan” creole for “what’s going on,” before Nadabo’s time could get, for its first time, to be up in ATV Yola.
Nadabo’s transfer of service from state media to federal was eventually to be a blessing to ATV Yola.
From NTA Yola, owing to his efficiency and effectiveness, diligence, dedication and professionalism, Nadabo was redeployed to NTA national before being moved to the station’s international section.
As acting governor, when Admiral Murtala Hammanyero Nyako’s tenure was prematurely terminated, Rt Hon Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri replaced Dr. Ahmed Usman Dadah who served for about eight years as GM ATV Yola, with Nadabo from NTA International who was once a staff with, when Dadah was GM.
Brilliantly bringing the international media experience to ATV Yola, the Periscope Global Publishers 2017 award winner simply said:
“Hey guys! Let’s go 24/7 and global partnering with Star Time satellite.
Nadabo continued as GM under Barr. Ngilari and Sudan-potential-scholar Bindow.
Nadabo visited me in my office, not minding the age difference, the page and official status about six months before the 2019 gubernatorial elections. We x-rayed the capacity and capability of the contestants, in addition to the possibility of the opposition candidates humiliating the incumbent at the poll.
I didn’t see any window opening for Bindow to succeed himself. I argued, as much as I knew the back of my hands.
The interactive session was not in anyway argumentative. Fintiri was truly projected as the aspirant with upper hand.
When it came to pass; Fintiri won the election, through a telephone conversation, we congratulated our projection.
Nadabo’s second time up in ATV Yola was communicated to me through a text message Thursday.
Surely there is another assignment away from ATV Yola. We always challenged him not to checkout before his time could get to be up.
This is the time, honoured by this brief piece of information Nadabo my elder brother sent to me:
“My time is up in ATV. I have handed over leadership to the most senior Director. I wish to express my gratitude to you all for the support and encouragement, these years. Thank you all.”
Thank you sir, for commending our support and encouragement. We pray that it is a time for a better opportunity to prove your leadership worth before our time is finally up to great beyond. Peace!
