The Federal Medical Centre FMC Jabi, Abuja, as part of the preventive measures against Coronavirus, has produced varieties of disinfectants for use in the health facility.
Presenting the products, the Medical Director of the hospital Prof. Saad Ahmed explains how and where the three varieties of the disinfectants can be effectively applied.
There’s is the 0.5% Sodium Hypoclorite solution spray for general disinfection of surfaces, doors and floors among other places.
There is the 70% Isopropyl alcohol spray for disinfection of medical devices, wooden and plastic surfaces.
There is the Alcohol handrub (sanitizer) for sanitizing hands.
The quantity of the disinfectants produced is only limited for use in the hospital. The management can however consider producing it in commercial quantity to be sold to other institutions, organisations and individuals at affordable price.
FMC Yola has equally produced the disinfectants that are being used in the hospital.
Recall that some weeks previously, the Periscope reported similar product being produced by the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital UMTH, Borno State,
It is so encouraging that tertiary health centres are producing consumables and equipments they can use. The initiative can cut the cost.
