Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa has pardoned 171 inmates serving various prison terms in 16 Correctional houses across the State.
In a press release Friday, the Press Secretary to the Governor, Humwashi Wonosikou, revealed that the 171 inmates were among the list of 2,600 inmates pardoned by the Federal Government.
“It could be recalled that the Governor had earlier granted amnesty to 46 inmates in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 212(i)(b) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s decision is in consonance with the Federal Government’s effort to decongest some of the overcrowded Correctional Centres, in the wake of the Novel Coronavirus Pandemic,” Wonosikou said.
