From Allah SWT is the created and to Him is the return. Some people play significant roles and leave remarkable legacies, while some others will have their death celebrated for causing great discomfort to all and sundry.
The news of the death of Alhaji Suleiman Abdullahi was received with great shock in Adamawa state. It is seen as irreparable loss not only to the family but to the state and county as a whole.
The MAU Adamawa University, MAU Yola and Federal Medical Centre, FMC Yola have joined the family with the people of Adamawa to mourn the demise of man of integrity, discipline, uprightness and elder stateman.
Suleiman Abdullahi, who is reported to have been claimed by accident somewhere around Ningi local government area of Bauchi state, while on his way back to Yola, Adamawa state from Kano, in the afternoon of the first Friday of the month of Ramadhan, according to a family source, is one among the people who played significant roles and left remarkable legacies to have made his demise an irreparable lose.
Late Alhaji Suleiman Abdullahi, one time General Manager Savannah Sugar Company, a gubernatorial aspirant, a politician who nurtured the philosophy of politics without bitterness and an agriculturalist with the Kelele Nigeria Limited, was a Governing Council Member of the Modibbo Adama University, MAU Yola, Adamawa state, representing public interest.
His however brief contributions have been a headway; some of the staff of the university at the funeral prayer held on Saturday, were heard lamenting that his contributions would indeed be missed.
Speaking, Adamu Muhammad Dodo, the head of information and media relations, Federal Medical Centre, FMC Yola revealed that until his death, Alhaji Suleiman Abdullahi was the Chairman, Hospital Paupers Fund, Yola (HPFY); a philanthropic scheme that targeted indigent patients in the health facility; established in 2015, to sensitise philanthropic individuals, corporate bodies and the general public on the plight of the indigent patients and seek for financial assistance to pay for services rendered to the indigent in-patients in the hospital.
Due to the integrity of the Sulaiman led paupers fund committee, monarchs, philanthropists, corporate organisations, faith based associations and individuals have generously donated to the scheme.
Over 1,096 indigent patients have benefited from the fund scheme from 2016 to 2020, ranging from minor to major surgeries, among other treatments.
It is also a great loss to HE Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the Waziri Adamawa, said to be a major individual contributor to the HPFY as the deceased was said to be a consultant to the Waziri’s farm.
The teeming mourners at the funeral yesterday prayed Allah SWT to grant Alhaji Sulaiman Abdullahi Jannatul Firdaus and the family he left behind the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss
