– If defected or returned back to APC, which camp could Goje join, the governors led by Wike or the Atiku Abubakar? A choice proving thorn to Governor Fintiri of Adamawa, political pundits would point out
Ahead of the 2023 general election, the immediate past governor of Gombe state, Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo has visited his predecessor, Sen. Danjuma Goje at his Abuja residence to woo him back to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Daylight Reporters gathered.
Dankwambo, accompanied by the Rivers state governor Nyeson Wike, Senate deputy minority leader, Philip Tanimu Aduda, former Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose, and former member of the house of representatives, JC were earlier at the Asokoro house of Sen. Goje to woo him back to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
The meeting held under closed door was said to have ostensibly lobby Sen. Goje to return back to the PDP.
Goje, a former Minister of Power, was also a two terms governor of Gombe state between 2003 to 2011 under the PDP before he was succeeded by Ibrahim Dankwambo.
The third time senator representing Gombe Central Senatorial District, Goje has decamped to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in the build up to the 2015 General election.
The relationship between Sen. Goje and Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe apparently gone cold, following the ugly events at the Gombe Lawanti International Airport, also known as Sani Abacha International Airport where Sen Goje was attacked by political hoodlums alleged to be acting on one of governor Bello’s subordinates sometime last year.
“There’s the impression that Sen Goje could return back to his parent party, the PDP following the relationship going sour between him and APC’s governor Bello.
“The question isn’t much about Goje defecting to the PDP, the question is if defected or returned back to PDP, which camp could Goje join, the governors’ led by Wike or the Atiku Abubakar?
It’s the seeming same kind of choice that politicians in Adamawa articulated, appears to be a thorn in political flesh of governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa state,” political pundits would point out.
