…Break Fast With Meat From Any Part Of The Animal You Slaughter For Sacrifice…
The last Friday Qutba before the Eid El-Adha incidentally falls on Arafat day, the day of supplications and answered acceptable prayers, whether or not a faithful is performing Hajj in Mecca.
Joining the global Ulama, the Imam of the Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital, MAUTH Yola, Adamawa State, Malam Haruna Yawale explained that the prohibition of fasting on a Friday alone does not extend to the special sunnah-recommended fasting that coincides with Friday as it may fall in other days of the week as well, such as: Arafat fasting, Ashurah fasting (fasting on tenth day of Muharram), someone embarking on Prophet Dawud fasting, which is to fast in alternate days etc.
Dhul Hijjah or Dhu al-Hijjah Wikipedia would explain, literally means “Possessor of the Pilgrimage” or “The Month of the Pilgrimage”. During this month Muslim pilgrims from all around the world congregate at Mecca to visit the Kaaba. The Hajj is performed on the eight, ninth and the tenth of this month.
Day of Arafah takes place on the ninth of the month. Eid al-Adha, the “Festival of the Sacrifice”, begins on the tenth day and ends by sunset on the 13th.
The Qutba Prescribed acts of worship in Dhul Hijjah to include but not limited to the the following:
Faithful should give extra charity Sadaqah in these 9 days.
Salaah prayers should be improved and intensified, hence the faithful should spend more time in the mosque as much as performing voluntary supplications at home
Intensifying dhikr and dua, in addition to reading reciting and memorization of the Qur’an.
.
Fasting the first nine days sawm or at least the 9th day, which is the day of Arafat.
The Qutba explained that it is forbidden to fast on Eid day, except from morning to time one must have slaughtered his animal for the intended sacrifice. He then breaks the fast with not only the liver but any part of the meat as there are some of the faithful who don’t even eat liver of an animal.
This is because it is the day of sacrifice. If the faithful were to fast on this day, they would have acted differently from what Allah loves and ordered us to do in His saying “So eat of them and feed the miserable and poor.” (Al-Hajj 22:28), how could a fasting person eat from them?
The Qutba listed the categories of animal that are most recommended for sacrifice to include cow, ram, camel and goats
One small animal such as a goat or sheep is equivalent to one Qurbani share, while a larger animal, such as a cow or camel, is equal to seven shares and can be split between seven individuals
The meet from the animals slaughtered as sacrifice should not be exchanged between and among the haves but the have should share it with the have-nots.
The Qutba generally reflects on the universal declaration of Rights and Freedom for all delivered by the Prophet Muhammad PBUH on Arafat Day considered as the last sermon, which suggested that Islam as a religion and the religion is completed and perfected.
The sermon was delivered on the 9th day of Dhul-Hijjah, 10 A.H. ( 623AD) in the Uranah valley of Mount Arafat in Mecca, on the occasion of annual rites of Hajj, known also as the Farewell Pilgrimage.
After praising and thanking Allah the Prophet (p.b.u.h.) began with the words:
“O People! Lend me an attentive ear, for I know not whether after this year I shall ever be amongst you again. Therefore, listen carefully to what I am saying and take these words to those who could not be present here today.”
“O People! just as you regard this month, this day ,this city as sacred ,so regard the life and property of every Muslim a sacred trust. Return the goods entrusted to you to their rightful owners. Hurt no one so that no one may hurt you. Remember that you will indeed meet your Lord, and that he will indeed reckon your deeds.”
“Allah has forbidden you to take usury, therefore all interest obligation shall henceforth be waived. Your capital is yours to keep .You will neither inflict nor suffer any inequality. Allah has judged that there shall be no interest and that all interest due to Abbas Ibn ‘Aal-Muttalib be waived.”
“Every right arising out of homicide in pre-Islamic days is henceforth waived and the first such right that I waive is that arising from the murder of Rabiah ibni al-Harithiah.”
“O men! the unbelievers indulge in tampering with the calendar in order to make permissible that which Allah forbade, and to prohibit what Allah has made permissible. With Allah the months are twelve in number. Four of them are holy, there are sucessive and one occurs singly between the months of Jumada and Shaban.”
“Beware of Satan, for the safety of your religion. He has lost all hope that he will be able to lead you astray in big things so beware of following him in small things.”
“O People it is true that you have certain rights with regard to your women but they also have rights over you. Remember that you have taken them as your wives only under Allah’s trust and with His permission. If they abide by your right then to them belongs the right to be fed and clothed in kindness. Do treat your women well and be kind to them for they are your partners and committed helpers. And it is your right that they do not make friends with any one of whom you do not approve, as well never to be unchaste.”
“O People! listen to me in earnest, worship Allah, say your five daily prayers, fast during month of Ramadan, and give your wealth in Zakat .Perform Haj if you can afford it.”
“All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a White has no superiority over a Black nor a Black has any superiority over a White except by piety and good action. Learn that every Muslim is a brother to every Muslim and that the Muslims constitute one brotherhood. Nothing shall be legitimate to a Muslim which belongs to a fellow Muslim unless it was given freely and willingly.”
“Do not therefore do injustice to yourselves. Remember one day you will meet Allah and answer your deeds. So beware, do not astray from the path of righteousness after I am gone.”
“O People! No Prophet or apostle will come after me and no new faith will be born. Reason well, therefore O People! and understand words that I convey to you. I leave behind me two things, the Quran and the Sunnah and if you follow these you will never go astray.”
“All those who listen to me shall pass on my words to others and those to others again; and may the last ones understand my words better than those who listen to me directly.”
“O Allah, be my witness, that I have conveyed your message to Your people.
