Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, Sikiru Kayode Akande has revealed that despite the success of the police in reducing crime in the state, culpable homicide and domestic violence are soaring.
The CP made the revelation while parading 31 suspects including shilla boys and others accused of culpable homicide, domestic violence, rape and drug pushers.
The CP noted that due to the alertness and proactive measures deployed by police in the state, criminality has substantially reduced leading to an increase in commercial activities.
The CP said the police would commence a statewide outreach program from tomorrow to sensitize the populace in order to nip in the bud the soaring domestic violence and culpable homicide.
The CP revealed that some items recovered from the suspects include Toyota Starlet, 5 locally made single barrel guns, 8 handsets, 3 matchets, 1 laptop, Tiger Generator, a dagger, 2 live cartridges, MP3, torchlight and hard drugs.
The CP said the command has embarked on a tactical and intelligence driven dusk to dawn raid of criminal hideouts, making the environment toxic for hardened criminals.
The CP said tremendous achievements were recorded during the week under review and vowed not to relent in combating crime in the society.
On the menace of “shila” boys, the CP disclosed that the command would do everything possible to know who started “shila” activities and who are currently behind them so as to address the menace from its roots.
