Adamawa State Executive Council Wednesday approved over N830m for construction of storm water drainage systems in Gulak, Shuwa and Uba towns in Madagali and Hong Local Government Areas.
The drainage in Gulak is given a distance of 1.3km by 1.5 metre at the cost of N366m
The drainage in Shuwa is given a distance of 1.3km by 2 by 1 metres at the cost of N216m.
The drainage in Uba is given the distance 0.07km by 2.1 by 1.5 metres at N248.
The State Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Dr. Umar Garba Pella disclosed this while briefing newsmen shortly after the Council Meeting presided over by the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri at the government house in Yola.
Pella said the projects awarded to Messrs Triacta Nigeria Limited would be executed in earnest to enable the government mitigates effects of ecological situation, such as perennial flooding as it was taking over communities in the state.
The Commissioner revealed that the SEC also approved the resurcitation of dilapidated state fertilizer blending plant at Damare in Girei local government area at the cost of over N264m.
Pella said the projects are awarded to 2 companies that would renovate, upgrade the structures, fabricate and install the machines at over N86m and N177m respectively.
Pella revealed that the Council’s decision was in consideration of the annual problem of accessing fertilizer for farming in the state, adding that when the work is completed, the plant would have the production capacity of 30 metric tones of the product per hour.
The Council, the commissioner said, also approved over N237m as variation for the work on 2 number township roads in Yola South Local Government Area.
Pella explained that the work, which is part of the lot 3 projects awarded by the Fintiri led administration in Yola town, now raised the entire contract sum to N1.5b against the initial cost of N1.3b.
Pella revealed that the approval for the variation was necessitated by high cost of materials and extension in the scope of work, citing example of Mafia Quarters road that has an increase of 700 meters long link.
According to Pella, SEC approved over N59m for procurement of 2700 bags of Aluminum Sulfate Solution (Alum) for Yola, Jimeta, Mubi and Numan Water Treatment Plants
