The leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Adamawa State has commended the Federal High Court’s Friday judgment as having salvaged the party from disgrace before the law in the event that the party gained victory in the forthcoming governorship election.
The APC leadership has in a moment, typical of a paradoxical twist of tongue, rejected the court orders that barred the party from either conducting a fresh primaries or fielding a governorship candidate.
The leadership of the APC said it would appeal the judgement in order to reclaim its mandate, with the confidence that it would win elections in the state.
The secretary of the party, Dr. Raymond Chidama who read the statement called for calm adding that the party would not relent until justice is dissipated, by being allowed to run a fresh primary election that would produce credible governorship candidate who would be capable of reclaiming the state leadership.
Chidama said in the wake of the “harsh” court judgement, the party convened a stakeholders’ meeting with the state working committee, state executives and local government chairmen of the party to chart a way forward, where it was agreed that the party should move to reclaim its mandate.
Chidama urged the stakeholders, especially the aspirants to remain faithful law abiding and ensure the prevalence of peace and order in the party as it struggled to reclaim its mandate.
Justice Abdulaziz Anka of Federal High Court 1, in a landmark judgement Friday, voided the gubernatorial primaries of the main opposition party in the state over the failure of the leadership of, to comply with the party guidelines and constitutional provisions while conducting the primaries and gave the party 14 days within which to appeal the judgement.
