Growing up I discovered life means different things to different people; some think life is what you make of it and others think life is what is made of you, whichever one you choose, life is actually what you make it and what you make of it.
There are names when mentioned, you would think they could be associated with anything evil. When you start to recount their activities and reactions to issues of life you begin to wonder if the word integrity really exists in the realm of idealism.
The political situation in my party, the APC, more particularly in Adamawa state, prompted me to ask if people believe that only God gives power to whom He wishes.
The aftermath of the primary election, which has now caused despair and near incohesiveness within the entire party, the leadership and members at the state level, makes a critical call, a cause for concern as much as it has raised curious questions as to who is to blame; the leadership of the party, the aspirants who are by designed decree defeated as destined or the followers, some of whom are impatient to being faithful to fate, distastefully befallen a master they deem unbelievably unbefitting, hence degenerate to the zeitgeist of savagery and barbarity in expressive verbatim with the “do or die,” “ours or no one else” character and exhibited characteristics?
I have genuine respect for the most Distinguished Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed Binani, however there is no exclusive other time than now, having weighed her patience and unflinching faith in the fate referred to as destiny.
Imagine if Binani were to have lost the governorship primary election. She would have told, if there were, the followers without attitude that it would make no meaning challenging a destined disappointment that would eventually be as an end in itself a blessing. Her brother, as she so addressed proudly publicly, by her would not be challenged before the law, she would not commiserate, she would instead commemorate or celebrate the victory with felicitation and facilitate the campaign for success with all that it would require of her resources and support with cooperation for success. It is called political integrity in clear contrast to inter-guilty.
Integrity suggests being innocent, objective, fairness, excused rather than any accused dealing, politically too.
Where is the integrity in one failing to accept the verdict of the people (after all he can’t get there without being voted or nominated)
How sure are the electorates that the candidate will not eventually throw our state into post election violence by imposing himself on the party who is rejected by the people in the general election?
With this attitude of ‘it’s either me or never’ and the attendant rigidity, can we truly trust him to be liberal in liberating having been entrusted with the mantle of keadership?
Where is the integrity when you accuse and harang people on the same guilt you are guilty of?
Where is the integrity when you don’t even care if the party stays or dies since you can always return to your comfort zone?
Political theorists would say that it isn’t integrity coercing a candidate on the electorates who would eventually resort to protest vote exemplified in the 2015 electioneering atmosphere.
We would not want a repeat of such integrity in the forthcoming 2023 governorship election in my party and in my state, suffices to say, down with the inter-guilty for integrity.
Therefore, Mr integrity, should learn to live in the word, doing the word and working than talking the word!
