Adamawa state governor, Rt Hon Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, represented by his Chief of Staff, Prof Maxwell Gidado has laid a foundation block for the Lutheran University Nigeria, Demsa.
The occasion, presided over by the President of the Lutheran World Federation and Archbishop of the LCCN, the Most Rev Musa Panti Filibus, which took place at Demsa local government area where government Fintiri earlier approved the allocation of the over 170 hectares of land for the purpose of building the university has in attendance the CAN Chairman Adamawa State.
Reacting to the development, the Muslim right group led by Nuruddeen Ismail said Muslims in Adamawa state are still waiting for the allocation and approval of equal size of land for the purpose of building an Islamic University in Adamawa.
The group recalled that they had made the same demand about 9 months ago. However, there seemed to be no positive response from the state governor.
“Muslims should not be shortchanged. Where land is allocated for the building of the Mosque, the equal size is allocated for the Church. Why should this be different?” Ismail would lament.
The group has called on the Muslim Council in Adamawa state to also look into the matter now that the four-year tenure of the governor is about coming to an end.
