Family source, the teenager was accused of stealing iphone 7 handset belonging to their neighbour, one Shuaibu Wambai Zumo, a staff with the Adamawa State Scholarship Board who reported the matter to the security apparatus, code named “Operation Farauta”, instead of the ward head or at most the nearby police station, since it was not the case of banditry, armed robbery, kidnapping and/or Shilla notoriety: not even looting.
According to the family source, “Operation Farauta came and picked Abdallah to answer some questions, or so we were told.
” He was later brought back handcuffed, crying and vomiting blood, saying that he had to forcefully agreed to stealing the handset he was accused of, just to spare his life from the unbearable torture he was heinously subjected to.
“The security operatives searched everywhere in the house but they couldn’t find the handset. Abdallah slumped down unconscious, while the searching was going on, having vomited blood.
“Zumo, the neighbour who accused our son of stealing his handset said Abdallah was only pretending, just to escape further interrogation.
“Having realised that Abdallah, who was healthy and hearty before he was picked for questioning by the security operatives, was brought back between life and death, we rushed him to Moddibo Adama University Teaching Hospital, MAUTH Yola, where he was admitted at Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and had been unconscious for four days before returning to his Maker in the morning of Wednesday, August 9, 2023.
“The stolen handset was later recovered from a thief who wasn’t in any way Abdallah. Meaning that our son was innocent. He was falsely accused, tortured with heinous cruelty, forced to admit guilt of the crime he didn’t commit for his life that he couldn’t eventually spare.
The family is in sorrowful pain. We’re in mourning over the death that our “good” neighbour Wambai, beats the cruel drum, sings the deadly song for our lovely son. We’re demanding justice against barbarity”.
