The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, NIPR, Kano chapter has elected new executive members
The election, which was held on Friday in Kano during the Institute’s 2023 Annual General Meeting, AGM, the institute has Aliyu Yusuf of the Mini Information as chairman, Isma’ila Ammai Maizare of Radio Kano as vice chairman and Usman Gwadabe of Triumph Newspapers as secretary.
Other executives are Abdullahi D. Abdullahi (Treasurer), Muhammad Dahiru Idris (Assistant Secretary), Samira Sulaiman (PR Executive), Abdullahi Abba Hassan (Financial Secretary) and Ado Sa’id Warawa (Auditor).
Inaugurating the newly elected leadership, the national president of the Institute, Dr. Ike Neliaku, commended the past leadership for providing a level playing field for the council to be vibrant.
In his acceptance speech, the new chapter chairman, Aliyu Yusuf has pledged to consolidate the achievements of past leaders and take the institute to a greater height. He thanked the council members for their support and cooperation
Represented by the commissioner for information, Alhaji Baba Halilu Dantiye, the Kano state Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, a.k.a Abba Gida-Gida, emphasised the importance of innovative approaches in the field of public relations to achieve desired results. He called on the newly elected members to be dedicated and move the institute to greater heights while restating the state government’s commitment to support the institute.
The governor has recognised the current government’s focus on rebuilding public trust through transparent and credible policies that could directly impact citizens’ lives.
Represented by Katukan Kano, Alhaji Habibu Bello, the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero has commended the NIPR activities in Kano called on journalists to dedicate slot within their media organisations to enlighten the citizenry about the efforts made by the nation’s heroes past in shaping Nigeria’s current state and for the promotion of national unity and cohesion by portraying the country’s image positively.
The emir charged NIPR to address challenges of quackery, hate speech, fake news and unverified news.
Highlights of the event include a public lecture by Professor Abdalla Uba Adamu with the theme ‘Artificial Intelligence and Spin-Doctoring in Public Relations Practice in Nigeria: Prospects and Challenges.
