Prof Auwal Muhammad Abubakar and Dr Ali Danburam led Accreditation and Quality assurance Committee saddled with the responsibility of ensuring that the private colleges of health technology in Adamawa state meet up with the standard requirements has commenced her task.
The Committee Friday, visited to review four of the eight sealed health institutions in the state capital.
The Colleges visited include NAFAN Health Technology College Jimeta Yola North, Fat-Hur Rahmam College of Health Science and Technology Yola South, Savannah Model College of Health Science and Technology Yola North and School of Health Technology Jimeta, located at Jambutu street Wuro-Kuturu, Yola North.
The Committee, has engaged the management of the individual colleges with a view to evaluating their accreditation status and other basic requirements, where having identified some deficiencies, she counselled the managements to double up effort to close the gaps.
Speaking shortly after the assessment, Prof Auwal noted that the colleges visited have done fairly well in the area of physical infrastructure.
He however, advised the colleges management to do more in terms of human resources the committee observed as being inadequate.
He explained that the committee was not constituted to witch hunt any health institution but to ascertain the accreditation status and identify areas of inadequacies with a view to give guidance on what to do to meet the basic operational requirements.
He appreciated Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for reposing confidence in them by giving them the assignment pledging to carry out their responsibility diligently without fear or favour.
In his response thanked the committee for coming particularly for guiding and giving them professional advice to improve on their weaknesses.
In their separate responses, the Provost NAFAN College of Health Science and Technology, Alhaji Ahmed Mohammed Bapetel, proprietor of Fat-Hur Rahmam College of Health Science and Technology Yola, Malam Baba Iyali, Chairman Board of Directors, Savannah Model College of Health Science and Technology Yola Malam Garba K Hassan and Deputy Provost of School of Health Technology Jimeta Ashiru Mohammed appreciated the Committee for coming.
They expressed commitment to the Committee’s advice with a view to meeting the basic requirements for the establishment of such institutions.
