…VC MAU, CMD MAUTH achievers’ handshake
By Adamu Muhammad Dodo
Modibbo Adama University, MAU Yola and Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital, MAUTH Yola, Adamawa state are Siamese twins with seamless spirit of service seeking no surgery for separation to succeed, Prof Abdullahi Liman Tukur, the Vice Chancellor, MAU would articulate the analogy Wednesday, when he led the management team to MAUTH Yola for a congratulatory courtesy visit.
MAU and MAUTH Yola are indeed inseparably working towards the same direction for the greatest good of the community, the state and the country.
MAU runs the college of medical sciences and MAUTH, riding on MAU’s back, bearing the name as well, is a teaching hospital, a training ground for the the medical students.
Prof Adamu Bakari Girei the pioneer Provost, College of Medical Science of Modibbo Adama University and now the Chief Medical Director, Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital, recently appointed, said he still belongs to the university where the teaching hospital derives its name, explaining that his appointment as CMD remains a national assignment and that he still will carry out his lecturing responsibility among other assignments in the university, the same way, I will add, he will attend to patients in spite of the executive functions in MAUTH Yola.
The VC with the management team, on behalf of the MAU as a community, heartily congratulated MAUTH Yola for having Prof Bakari appointed as substantive CMD, which also suggested that his earlier appointment as pioneer provost of the college of medical science by the university was not in any way a mistake the same way loaning him to MAUTH would be a blessing.
It’s not about taking credit, it’s about service to humanity, the community; it’s not about what belongs to who or who owns what? It’s about what benefits would that in reference be to the community?
The duo of VC and CMD, backed by the management staff of both sides are agreed that what’s sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander; What belongs to MAU should be shared with MAUTH and vice versa in terms of facility and to some extent, shared responsibility, as exemplified in the siting of Paediatric Centre of Excellence; a university Tetfund project built in the Teaching Hospital, soon to be commissioned.
The CMD MAUTH thanked the VC MAU for the support and cooperation he has been enjoying right from his appointment as the college provost.
The CMD MAUTH congratulated the VC MAU for an added state responsibility as Deputy Ameerul Hajj for the 2024 Hajj operations, being appointed by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa state.
