Security operatives of the Adamawa State Police Command attarched to Yola Division have arrested two notorious vandals while on area patrol along Rugange – Njoboliyo road, Yola South local government area, central senatorial district of the state.
The press release Saturday, issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Sulaiman Yahaya Nguroje revealed that the suspects whose identities are given as “Idi Wakil 62 years old and Babangida Bello 54 years old, all residents of Madumari ward, Yola South local government area, have been vandalising, stealing and selling out the armored electricity cables that connect Njoboliyo and other villages from Yola, thus resulting to power outages in those areas, causing colossal lost to Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) and Wrongful gain to themselves.
“The Commissioner of police, Aliyu Adamu Alhaji, has commended officers and men of Yola Division and members of the community for making it difficult for such criminals to escape arrest.
“Investigation further revealed that the suspects are auxiliary staff of YEDC and have been committing similar offences since 2018.
“Meanwhile, as part of efforts at tackling criminal activities and other related offences the CP, working in concert to deepen intelligence and strengthen security in the State has directed that suspects be arraigned in court upon completion of investigation.
“The CP has also called on the management of YEDC to report to Yola Divisional Police Headquarters and claim the recovered stoten cables”.
