Two alleged kidnappers disguised as vigilantes, whose names are given as Abdulrahaman Alhaji Yakubu, 30 years old father of 5 and Suleiman Lawan, 35 years old father of 10, both of Murke village in Song local government area, central senatorial district of Adamawa state, northeast Nigeria, have been arrested for killing a man in village near Gombedeked along Dumne road in Song LGA.
The duo are currently under investigation at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Police Headquarters, Yola.
The suspected kidnappers with 3 others at large, were said to have stormed the village on the 5th August, 2021, in the night for random kidnapping during which they invaded the residence of the victim to abduct his son.
The elders confronted the kidnappers to protect their brother from abduction.
To scare away the courageous brothers, the kidnappers started shooting and a stray bullet hit the father who was coming of his room and was killed instantly
The neighbours who heard the sounds of the gunshots, they came out from their houses and chased the criminals who abandoned the crime scene without abducting their target.
It was gathered that, other vigilantes have traced the footsteps of the suspects right from the scene of the crime to their various houses where they were apprehended the in the morning.
When contact for confirmation, the Police Public Relation Officer, DSP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, disclosed to News Platform that the suspects were in police custody, and that they were being investigated after which they would be charged to court for prosecution.
