The National Assembly is to present a bill for the inclusion of traditional institution in Nigerian constitution.
The Member representing Argungu and Augie federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Alhaji Bashar Isa Matawalle disclosed this to Radio Nigeria in Birnin Kebbi shortly after the turbaning of the Senate President, Senator Ahmed Lawal and the Senate Chief Whip, Senator Orji Uzo Kalu by the Emir of Argungu in Kebbi State.
He said, the green and red chambers have a bill to be presented soon for the inclusion of traditional institution in to the Nigeria constitution as it was done to local governments Chairmen and Councillors.
According to him, “when the bill is before the floor of the two chambers, he believe it will have a smooth passage.
“following an intensive presentation in a public occasion on the role of traditional institution in the country, jingered the Emir of Argungu to honour the Senate President with a traditional title”.
The legislator, said the Senate President brought the idea of the bill for the inclusion of traditional institution in to the Nigeria constitution and the two chambers welcomed the proposed bill.
Alhaji Isa Matawalle, explained that, if the traditional institution has a role defined in the Nigerian constitution, the issue of insecurity being face in the country would become a history.
He expressed displeasure over the involvement of some traditional leaders in the present situation of insecurity in some parts of the country saying, he has the believe that the traditional institution was not happy about situation.
