Gunmen have invaded the family house of the district head of Mayo-Farang, Mayo-Belwa local government area, southern senatorial district of Adamawa State, northeast Nigeria in the wee hours of Tuesday and whisked away four members of the family.
The district head, who doubles as Sarkin Noman Adamawa, Ardo Mustapha Ahmadu, was himself abducted about a year ago, which necessitated relocating his family members to Yolde Pate, a satellite town, in Yola South local government, central senatorial districts of the state.
An eyewitness told newsmen that the gunmen in their numbers stormed the Yolde Pate residence of the monarch between 1:00am to 2:00am on Tuesday and shot the security personnel before breaking the house for kidnapping.
“The gunmen stormed the house between 1:00am to 2:00am. On their arrival, they shot the security man manning the gate, forcefully entered the compound and whisked away four members of the family,
“The Ardo, whom they could be targeting, was lucky not to be around when the incident happened, as such, he was not among those whisked away,” the source said.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Sulaiman Yahaya Nguroje said security operatives were on the trail of the hoodlums.
Nguroje noted that four members of the monarch’s family have been kidnapped after subduing the security personnel currently receiving treatment in the hospital, having sustained gunshot.
Nguroje said the police would not relent until the victims are freed and assailants apprehended.
Similarly, the Adamawa State Coordinator, National Land Development Authority, (NALDA), Zakaria Kraha has been kidnapped at Ngurore, Yola South local government area, while returning from Benue state, a family source revealed to Fact Check.
However, the spokesman, Adamawa State Police Command could not confirm the abduction of the NALDA boss, he said he was yet to be briefed.
Recall that last week a medical doctor was kidnapped in his hospital at Ngurore where he was attending patients. Though he has regained freedom, there is however no information on whether or not his abductors were eventually apprehended.
