My piece on personality with the heading, “ADAMAWA: Parents Commend, Youths Celebrate, Appreciate Baba-10 Over Admission, Sponsorship, Appointments, Empowerment,” has made a list to my creative contributions, which elicited comments last week; whether or not constructive the condemnation and the commendations the attracted critical contributions, for a consideration, I can not be judgemental.
The writer is far removed from the written piece already in public domain, though not considering a point that in the art of persuasion, the understanding of a given school of thought is the ability of the persuasive speech to be able to understood and to be believed. The believability however lies the the character and characteristics of the writer. This is bedside the point.
A commentator has condemned the piece – though not tearing to pieces – as that pointing towards promoting a politician with all intended manner of exaggeration, as preface to 2023 electioneering admosphere, even though evidenced pictures are attached to the piece as a prove against expected opposition. However cynical criticism in this respect, has a privilege.
The positive overwhelming comments were that considered as dismissing without hissing, the naysayers’. The comments were not just commendations but contributions to enrich the piece with testimonies and additional report of the yet to be captured palliative interventions by the technocratic philanthropist, with the call for constituency representation that “the Baba-10 would be ten times capable, having 10 times capacity and 10 times competency that is 10 times beyond any air about competition for efficiency and effectiveness; topping the tough top ten for the central district senatorial representation of Adamawa state.
“We are among the beneficiaries of the new recruitment exercise, courtesy of Baba-10. We don’t in anyway share any family ties with the technocratic philanthropist of monarchical order, other than being companion with the compassion in him,” some of the recruited interviewed would give as testimony.
“How are we related when we have tribal differences? The fact that we speak Fulfulde does not take away our first, rather tribal language, as much as we aren’t also from the royal family. We’re, if you like to consider us, commoners whose parents are devastated by poverty and were unable to sponsor our final examinations, that the technocratic philanthropist we remain grateful for, assumed the financial responsibility,” some of the Baba-10 scholarship beneficiaries would say.
The technocratic philanthropist, Hon Ibrahim Babayola Musdafa, popularly known as Baba-10, “apart from securing appointments to the teeming constituents and education sponsorship, has been known for religious interventions in the area of community Mosque building, drilling of boreholes to the desirous communities, footing medical bills of the indigent patients and donation of food items; bags of rice, oil, cattle and cash, as palliative to cushion down the effect of famine and during festivite periods; Fasting, Christmas, New Year, Eids and other occasions,” Bashir, addressed as Bingel would explain.
“This act is indeed pure and the expression present an impression beyond politics, in the crude sense of the game. It is called, selfless community service as a social responsibility,” a Yunusa Abubakar, a social commentator would articulate.
A selfless, apolitical service to constituency as a social responsibility endears the technocratic philanthropist to the constituents’ call for representation. The constituents believe Baba-10, not only will he top the tough top 10, will also do 10-fold for the greatest good of the his constituency.
The question the teeming electorates in the state are now asking is not what but who is this Baba-10?
