The local government caretaker committee chairman, Maiha local government, northern senatorial district of Adamawa state, northeast Nigeria, Hon Abubakar Mustapha, popularly known as Habu; addressed in this piece as Mustapha Jnr, for stepping into his father’s shoe – of blessed memory – is reported to be bringing back electricity to the local government.
Maiha has been in darkness for quite some time such that people would have to use generator to generate electricity.
To bring light to the local government, the light-hearted was told that the broken poles and seeming vandalised electricity cables from Mubi local government area to Maiha would have to be fixed.
Determined to do that Mustapha Jnr has since approved the sum of one million naira to Yola Electricity Distribution Company, YEDC, as part payment for the fixing of the poles and the electricity cables.
The effort is an additional performance star, credited to Mustapha Jnr whom the electorates convinced to join the LG race in April.
“Hon Habu is making us proud. He has been with us since the swearing in ceremony. He visited Yola only for official engagement. He’s been able to know some emergency challenges that require urgent attention. He has within one months, as expected, recorded success; won the hearts of the electorates.
“The electorates are now conscious of achievements and achievers in any election; meaning that legacy counts.
“Any politician seeking for mandate must spelt out his achievements, his contributions to the progress and development of and in Maiha local government,” an elder would say.
