The Periscope Global
It is apparent that monarchies, groups, clubs, associations, families, friends, female folks, youths and individuals in Adamawa state have joined President Muhammadu Buhari’s call to have not just a female but Distinguished Senator Aisharu Dahiru Ahmed, a.k.a Binani, the amazing amazon, as governor, making a political breakthrough; going by her so numerous accomplishments as a duty, a social responsibility and in providing dividends of democracy to the citizenry, where her contributions and commitments to empathy and compassion outweigh the state government’s leadership, the media survey can reveal.
“Binani is truly a household name in Adamawa state, as His Royal Highness, Murum Mbula rightly observed. Her empathy and compassion have no political party barrier. She therefore, has no need using rented crowds, to stage in fictional terms, a deceptive, defective defection, defined as obnoxious propaganda”, a literary critic would in deconstruction point out.
The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC and Trades Union Congress, TUC, have jointly joined the popular call for “Binani for Governor,” having been impressed with her subdued-empty-promises-actions, metaphorised in her mission accomplishments, however taxing the task and a genuine manifesto, germaine to the workers’ course that extends to the retirees and the unemployed youth and women.
Summarising the manifesto before the NLC and TUC teeming joint members in Yola, Binani said, if given the opportunity to serve as governor:
“We’ll look into the issue of minimum wage as a priority, as it is being prescribed, not to shortchange all categories of workers.
“The sacked workers would be considered, vis-à-vis the financial capacity of the state and the possibility of becoming self-employed through skills acquisition programmes.
“The issues of workers’ promotions without corresponding salary increment and arrears, in addition to other welfare packages as means of motivation will be revisited.
“The issues of retirement benefits and outstanding pensions, although it can not be paid at once due to the accumulations over long unpaid periods, I can guarantee you that it shall be paid gradually, spread over the four-year period. However, for those retiring during my tenure, they are guaranteed of enjoying their full benefits fully and to be enrolled as pensioners promptly.
“We shall explore the untapped abundant natural resources; namely, kaolin, bitumen, limestone, lead zinc and gypsum among others that can attract foreign investors to open doors for the internally generated revenues and more windows of employment opportunities.
“On poverty alleviation, you are all witnesses to my efforts as a legislature, I shall simply improve by expanding it as a governor, where the paradigm shift can be tilted to self-reliance with a view to decongest civil service and empty the unemployed pool.
“On education as an integral part of the societal greatness, we shall address the issues relating to the abandonment, such as the dilapidated schools with unmotivated headmasters lacking teachers, by making schools conducive for teaching and learning, adequate staffing, sufficient teaching and learning materials, in addition to encouraging teachers capacity development among other motivations schemes.
“On healthcare matters as a mandate; I have the passion for improved healthcare delivery, evidenced in the hospitals I built, fully equipped and commissioned across my constituency as a legislature, the bills I sponsored to give Federal Medical Centres in the country a legal backing, which was passed into law, the upgrading of FMC Yola to a teaching hospital, the establishment of Medical College and the establishment of FMC Mubi among other bills, in addition to the free medical outreach for the financially disadvantaged patients.
On agriculture; a lot has so far been done in the area of promoting agriculture, like the yearly intervention with the provisions of free seedlings and fertilizer and the intervention in irrigation farming with the free distribution of farming implements like pumping machines. We shall improve on this and additionally, invite foreign investors to consider large scale yield for export. This will enhance revenues for the state and additional employment opportunities for the citizens.
“We shall, in God’s name, improve quality and standard of living, by genuinely providing both human development as a priority and capital development not based on personalising interest rather financially”.
Seeing women forming the majority and seated at the front raws, Binani said, it “gives me confidence”. It is also a metaphor, depicting her presence and her mission.
She said, “voting Binani, giving Binani the support is not about Binani, it is about your daughter, it is about your sister, it is about your mother, it is about your aunty and so on…
“I’m contesting now but the inspiration that has been brought into our culture is immeasurable. So, crashing the inspiration I think, is going to… like affect so many of our daughters…
“I want to use this opportunity to plead with you – gentlemen – to just give us – females – this opportunity. I know it’s not easy but if you make up your mind and say ‘yes, let’s give them a trial’, it’s easy”.
Binani considered Adamawa state as a metaphor of unity in diversity, giving meaning to it as a land of beauty. She promised to promote unity in diversity, fairness, justice, peace and mutual coexistence as multiple and solid pillars of progress and development.
She said “and above all, you know, Adamawa is one state that has so many ethnic groups, different in diversity and what have you, I will ensue unity and peaceful coexistence among diverse groups because development thrives only with peaceful coexistence”.
The bottom line is, give the amazing amazon a chance to govern the state for peaceful and mutual coexistence, harmonious relationship, progress and development. After all, President Muhammadu Buhari has already projected it, in God’s name, where he addressed Binani as the Governor-in-Waiting. He personally visited the state to present her to the electorates as the capable governorship candidate with the capacity of getting the state out of the maze. The President would not conceal his confidence in the amazing amazon by revealing his support for her immediately after casting his ballot for Tinubu as president and other national assembly candidates in Daura, his hometown, with his spirit in Adamawa.
The amazing amazon has no idolic deity to pour libation as offering seeking for success. She has no “Gods the human” to be stupidious submissive to for answered prayers with the conviction that it is only God alone that decides power and authority and He alone should be served, rather than mammon, as Jesus would sermonise.
The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Chairman, Comrade Emmanuel Fashe and the TUC Chairman, Adamawa state, Comrade Dauda Adamu, speaking on behalf of the joint organised labour, described Binani’s visit to the Labour House as an honour done to workers in the state.
The duo thanked Binani for donating vehicles to workers’ unions in the state, namely, the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, The Radio, Television, Theatre and Arts Workers’ Union of Nigeria (RATTAWU) Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) Nigeria and the Medical and Health Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MHWUN) among others. They expressed confidence that Binani indeed has workers’ welfare in heart. They promised to reciprocate the gesture, to be able to gain more..
Comrade Emmanuel Fashe said “Your Excellency, your coming today has actually added value and has given a profile to organised labour, Adamawa state.
“The number you see, is just a fraction of the number that awaited you last week. These few that came, we had to propel and move them out of their various enslaves where they went for voting to be here to receive you.
“We’re so excited. We’re so happy and of course, you’ve seen it yourself that the congress you’ve met and the congress you’re interfacing with are really indeed happy to receive you this evening.
“We’ll not to say so much but we must thank you again… you found it seamless and saw that it behooves you to reach out to various unions and affiliate NLC and TUC to give them mobility.
“Now that you found yourself to be here to interface with them, I’m sure you’ll still do much more.
“We’re thanking you so much for all you’ve done. Going through your manifesto, the first point… the areas of minimum wage… looking at the areas of welfare of workers… We’ll not thank you enough but we want to thank you with a promise that your coming, we’ll reciprocate.
“What you’ve done to us we’ll reciprocate and that’s all I can say. We’re highly impressed. We’re highly excited for your coming. As you go on with your various interfaces with some other groups, we pray that God Almighty will take the team, will take the train and will watch and preserve your family in all endeavours. Thank you so very much.”
