My last article on KaaKaaKey Fombina has elicited comments; some dismissed for being illicit, some elitist and others commendations and well wishes; where I defended the reasons for the communication scholar and professional, Abubakar Abba Tahir PhD, the KaaKaaKey Fombina (I) to accept without grudging, the interim appointment as chairman Yola South local government.
The appointment KaaKaaKey didn’t seek for and was not consulted before being offered. I explained how he was more a native with the monarchical background than most of rather unconstructive critics that considered him alien to the local government.
The one I consider as star among the comments in response to my piece is that contributed by another critical thinking, communication consultant with administrative skills, Comrade Ahmed I. Sajoh. He writes:
“This is a very good one. Very thorough. Very analytical and infact clinical in approach. We all wish him well and pray for him.
“As someone who served as Local Government Secretary before, I can advice him on one very difficult choice he has to make. There is a trap every local government leader falls into and it’s Hopson’s choice.
“‘Dispense favours you get trapped, refuse to dispense favours you get trapped’
“He must work out a balance.
“Additionally, he should be mindful of relationship with the traditional council. As kaakaakey (I like the way you guys anglicized it) Lamido is his boss, as Chairman of the LGA he is technically Lamido’s boss. A very dicy situation. Should any crisis erupt between Government and Lamido during his tenure he will be in hot soup.
“Useni yottinu kofli am be do’aji duddi”.
What a worthy advice! A communication consultant, professional, scholar manager and founder, most worthy of KaaKaaKey Fombina is a crisis manager who understands that the very first step in managing crisis is to prevent any crisis from happening.
There is a communication in everything, checking the communication flow from every angle, controlling the nauseating noisy from permeating the polity, will certainly get one away from the very dicy – two elephants fighting – situation.
KaaKaaKey as interim LG chairman has and is still receiving audiences; individuals and organizations, politicians and professionals.
One thing for sure is that his audience is totally intolerable of any form of gossip backbiting aimed at backstabbing anyone; as the saying goes, he’s for everybody and for nobody, he’s for progress against retrogression; he’s patriotic to fairness and detribalised.
Banks officials have visited. It’s fundamental, considering the necessity for the change of signatories and other promotional packages
The caretaker committee chairman attended the National Open University of Nigeria, NOUN, advocacy and sensitisation meeting held at Musdafa primary school on Wednesday, February 9, 2022.
The NOUN leadership requested for space to enable the institution open a study centre in Yola South local government.
The scholar in KaaKaaKey has really played prominent with the promise to provide the space and all the necessary support for the take off of the study centre considering the impact on education the proximity will get to make.
The caretaker committee chairman also received in audience the Yola South group of persons with disability. The group, the leader revealed, were at the local government secretariat to congratulate the LG chairman and wish him a successful tenure, where they solicited for office accommodation, other supports and necessary assistance.
The KaaKaaKey thanked group for the visit. He assured to provide them with a very conducive office environment and a plot of land for their poultry business and appointment of Special Assistant S.A
KaaKaaKey wondered how workers render services, how hygienic was it without portable water at the secretariat; an ugly development prior to his appointment as caretaker chairman.
The narrative has now changed with water running from the tap, the convenience now more hygienic. LG workers hailed the achiever.
Typical of the KaaKaaKey’s corporate taste with the philosophy that a task however taxing, is accomplished with ease, effectively and efficiently in a serene environment under conducive atmosphere giving forth fresh air. To achieve this, he directed for the renovation of the local government secretariat; work has already reached advanced stage. LG workers gave another kudos
An administrator with the spirit of revenue drive, KaaKaaKey earlier visited Ngurore market among other places. The market was so porous with the broken fences, paving way to evading tax collection.
He presented the situation report at a meeting with the Adamawa state governor, who promised to mend the broken fences. Already work has started with a view to mending fences at Nguroje market.
The KaaKaaKey in his needs assessment tour, has also visited areas touched by hoodlums during the unpatriotic staged vandalization of state structures and facilities under the guise of #EndSars protests, to determine the necessary intervention.
