Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed, a.k.a Binani has won the governorship ticket for the Adamawa state, under the APC.
Binani has scored 430 votes to emerge overall winner in a party primary election held on Thursday and Friday, at Lamido Cinema, Galadima Aminu way, Yola, the state capital.
The electoral committee chairman, Hon Gambo Lawal, declaring Binani elected, explained that the eligible voters stood at 1109. However, there’s an insignificant arithmetic error to give 1011 total votes cast, which could be as a result of miscounting of invalid votes, which stood at 39.
The following are the votes scored by aspirants as presented by the electoral committee chairman:
Hon. Wafari Theman – 21 votes
Dr. Umar Mustapha Madawaki, a.k.a Otumba – 39 votes
Hon. Abdurrazak Sa’ad Namdas – 94 votes
Sen. Muhammadu Umaru Jibrilla a.k.a Bindow – 103 votes
Malam Nuhu Ribadu – 288 votes
Distinguished Sen. Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed, a.k.a Binani – 430 votes

From the Periscope report, the All Progressives Congress, APC has held her governorship primary elections at Lamido Cinema, Galadima Aminu way, Yola, the state capital.
The APC electoral committee led by Hon Gambo Lawal were in Yola since yesterday, Thursday for the exercise.
The committee assured that the exercise would be transparent, free, fair and credible, to be acceptable and accepted by all.
The committee has cleared the air where she revealed that none of the aspirants was screened out. All the 6 aspirants were successfully accredited. They are Malam Nuhu Ribadu, Dr Umar Mustapha Madawaki, a.k.a Otumba, Hon Abdurrazak Sa’ad Namdas, Hon Wafari Theman, Sen Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed, a.k.a Binani and Sen Muhammadu Umaru Jibrilla a.k.a Bindow, the former governor.
The committee explained that there are 1113 registered delegates directly elected in their wards. However, only 1109 of the delegates have availed themselves for the accreditation. Therefore, to ensure credibility, the number of votes cast must not exceed the number of the accredited delegates.
The committee urged the supporters as electorates to remain faithful to the fate of the voting
In his goodwill address, Boss Gidahyelda Mustapha, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation of Nigeria, SGF, having commended the APC executive members, the electoral committee for improving the management of the congress, certified that all the heavyweight aspirants are super capable to reclaim power from the PDP led government that has suffocated the state. But it is only one aspirants that would emerge victorious.
He urged the aspirants to rally round the most equalled among them to be able to ensure victory for the party come 2023.
Presenting themselves before the party and delegates, the aspirants assured victory to the party if elected.
Ribadu, the anticorruption tsar as a game changer promised to bring peace and security in the state, develop the economy, build schools and hospitals, revamp education, youth and women empowerment among others.
Otumba promised to transform Adamawa into a modern state in terms of infrastructure to pair with the most developed states in the country.
Namdas said he is a credible candidate that “even governor Fintiri knows I’m the capable person to win the election.
Wafari the pharmacist who argued that politics is better than pharmacy when it comes to policy making promised to embrace human capital development and factoring Adamawa elites from within and outside the country to join in building Adamawa.
Distinguished Sen Binani, the amazing amazon, the lone lady, solicited for women to be given a chance so that she would play the unbeatable role as a governor as she had played as Hon Member House of Representatives and is still playing as a Senator.
Bindow lamented that he was the only governor in the state that served for a single tenure. He solicited to be given another mandate to be able to complete his second tenure, pointing out that he was able to build 297 roads within 2 years, with meagre amount of money and without collecting any loan for the project.
The committee invited agents of the aspirants at about 1:07am of Friday so that voting exercise would begin.
Mr. Ajayi, the secretary of the electoral committee explained the process of the voting; Two ballot boxes were used. Two local governments voted at the same using the ballot boxes each. The local governments were invited based on alphabetical order as follows:

In her vote of thanks, Binani commended the electoral committee for the free, fair and credible election, the fellow aspirants for the gallantry exhibited in the well contested election, urging them to maintain the tempo and the spirit of teamwork with a view to ensure victory in the general election come 2023.
Binani commended the SGF, Boss Mustapha for his contribution to the the party, Adamawa state and the country in general.
Boss Mustapha was impressed with the smooth conduct of the election, where he commended the electoral committee, congratulated Binani, commended other aspirants and urged them to support Binani, which invariably is a support to APC as a party to ensure victory.
Binani would be first female not only in Adamawa or the north but the entire country to be become a governor if elected come 2023.
