Comrade Ishaka Donald Dedan has done it again as the Adamawa State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, having certified his leadership abilities and recorded successes has re-elected him for the second term.
Dedan was returned Council Chairman in keenly contested, free, fair, peaceful and credible election held on Saturday at the Press Centre in Yola, where he polled 110 votes defeating his opponent, Comrade Kate Aliyuda who polled 72 votes.
The results of the election were announced by the Chairman, 2022 Electoral Committee of the Council Comrade Bashir Liman.
Other polls have Comrade Fidelis Jockthan scoring 120 votes defeating his closest rival Jonathan Filibus who polled 73 votes for the position of Secretary.
The office of the treasurer was won by Joy Diamond Leka with 116 votes, defeating Felicia Amos who polled 37.
The positions of Auditor and Assistant Secretary were unopposed.
The newly elected leaders were administered oath of office by Barrister Sunday Wugira.
In an inaugural speech, the Vice Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalist, North East zone, Comrade Zare Baba charged the new executive to carry every body along and eschew bigotry and favoritism.
The returned Chairman, Comrade Ishaka Donald Dedan gave the glory to God and pledged to continue playing an all inclusive, participatory leadership.
Dedan solicited for support of and prayers from the members he urged for support and guidance.
Speaking, the Permanent Secretary ministry of information, Barrister Isuwa Misali who congratulated them, urged the new executives to work as a team with a view promoting the ideals of the union.
Other speakers at the event who presented their good will messages include NUT state Chairman, Comrade Rodney Nathan, representative of the Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria, JUSUN Adamawa state Chapter and Radio Television Theatre and Art Workers Union, RATTAWU.
