The Labour Party, LP gubernatorial candidate in Adamawa state, Dr Umar Mustapha Madawaki a.k.a Otumba of Ekiti is likely to file another ₦10 billion fine before the law for defamation.
Otumba, whose counsel are reported to be doing justice in his defence before the law over the allegation that he did not tender resignations in the previous political parties he joined in the governorship primary elections before taking the ticket of the Labour Party, have found the allegation appalling, challenging his conscience and integrity by some ignorant citizens, politically speaking, who are not schooled to know their limits before the law, even though, ignorance is not an established case for excuse before the law.
The plaintiffs, it is argued, lack the ground to file a suit against Otumba on the ground that it is only a registered party member, not ordinary citizen or organisation has the right for such litigation that the plaintiffs have odiously meddle-muddled in.
A source close to the LP gubernatorial flagbearer has revealed to the newsmen that it is not unlikely Otumba would slam another ₦10 billion suit for defamation.
“The obnoxious suit is aimed at challenging Otumba’s integrity with an unpardonable libel to be counted for unrepentant mischief.
“A lot of resources are involved in the damage control by the defendant of the defamation, from the lawyers to the media. It isn’t a Humanitarian investment and the financial waste is as unacceptable as the defamation incondonable.
“The desparate plaintiffs ought to have taken their time before filing a case, to find out from the political parties in reference, whether or not Otumba has tendered his withdrawals of memberships and/or whether or not they have the legal ground to institute a case, defaming the Defendant”, the source would say.
Recall that the LP gubernatorial flagbearer has earlier instituted a ten billion naira suit against the Emmanuel Fashe led group under the Organized Labour, OL, Adamawa state platform for defamation
The leaderships of the Organized Labour have in a joint press release, accused Otumba of being a political impostor, parading himself as LP gubernatorial candidate in Adamawa state, for which they distanced themselves from, in addition to the allegation of betrayal of trust and financial infraction against the Organized Labour, said to be before the court of law and the anti graft agency.
Defending the governorship candidate, the Labour Party leadership publicly condemned the allegation, pointing out that the Organised Labour as a body is a trade union not a registered political party and that non of the executive members of the union is a registered LP member contesting for governorship to have filed a case before the law against their governorship candidate.
