A Professor, unlike in Borno state, is yet to be fielded by any political party, as governorship candidate in Adamawa state.
Making a step towards that perhaps, PDP, the ruling party in the state has finally fielded a female professor for a deputy governorship.
Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa state has found Professor Kaletapwa G. Farauta, to be fine as his governorship running mate ahead of 2023 general elections under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Farauta the first female Vice Chancellor, a successful one too, of Adamawa State University (ADSU) Mubi, will by this arrangement, substitute the present deputy Governor, Chief Crowther Seth as running mate in the 2023 governorship election.
Fintiri Wednesday, described the choice of Farauta as a painstaking strategy for gender sensitivity in addition to her expertise, which he said would add tremendous value to the campaign of the PDP.
Fintiri forwarded Farauta’s typified fresh air features to include but not restricted to competency and unalloyed loyalty, saying she has been tested severally and proven to be dependable and worthy for the taxing task.
Fintiri who marked himself victorious long before the race considered lacking cogent opposition, has called on the non PDP members to rally round the winning team in the overall interest of the state.
Fintiri, while acknowledging the loyalty and steadfastness of his present deputy governor, Chief Crowther Seth, commended him for his sacrifice and gentility.
Fintiri said he met Adamawa in a state of darkness, deficiencies, incessant conflicts and dearth of infrastructure among others when he took over as governor but his administration was able to change the narratives for the better.
The state chairman of the PDP, Barr AT Shehu commended the cheering courage of Chief Crowther Seth in endorsing Farauta as his substitute. He called on the party members to rally round the deputy governorship candidate.
Pro-chancellor and Chairman Governing Council of ADSU, doubling as member of the PDP Board of Trustees, Alhaji Auwal Tukur who would not be given the party’s ticket for the senatorial representation, described the choice of Farauta as wise, going by her pedigree in the academia.
In her vote of thanks, the deputy governorship candidate, Prof Farauta, appreciated governor Fintiri and the PDP in having her worthy for a nunning mate in the 2023 race to Dougirei Hill
The University don turned politician has called on the people, especially women who did not collect their voter’s card to do so in earnest.
The event was attended by former and present federal and state lawmakers, members of the state executive council, PDP leaders and supporters, top government functionaries and teeming associates of Professor Kaletapwa Farauta.
