Adamawa State commissioner of police Sikiru Kayode Akande, has on Tuesday, 27th September, 2022 chaired an interactive meeting with political actors and security commanders in his office, convened separately to ensure a smooth electoral process ahead of 2023 general polls.
A statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, S.P Sulaiman Yahaya Nguroje revealed that the CP during the meeting informed the Organizing Secretaries the need for all the political parties to submit to the police their campaign programmes to enable the command secure and control all the venues of their campaigns.
The police boss equally interfaced with commanders of sister security agencies on the need to review their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats with a view to ensuring security of the public space towards guaranteeing a crime-free and enabling environment for the political campaigns, rallies and other activities.
He further said that the command intends to operate an inclusive operating system of policing by exhibiting a high level of professionalism, fairness and maintaining an oath of neutrality in accordance with the Electoral Act.
The CP, therefore called on members of the public particularly politicians to inculcate the idea of mutual respect, good conduct and character among themselves, stressing that “respect begets respect” and the command will do its utmost best to ensuring the safety and security of all persons and properties that will be involved in the entire electoral process.
The command solicited for the cooperation of all the security agencies and political actors with a view to achieving the mandate of having a common ground to confront the political parties’ campaigns, rallies and other activities relating to the 2023 elections.
