The women and youth in peace protest procession across the local governments in Adamawa state, agitating for “justice in the judgement, which voided the APC Governorship Primary Election that produced Distinguished Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed, a.k.a Binani, as the Adamawa APC governorship candidate, has taken a creative like reality show dimension.
Three Boys in their early 20s, by conservative guess, have today, Friday in the morning, mounted the tallest billboard in Jimeta, Yola South local government, displaying a “Sai Binani” poster, proudly maintaining a position that they would not come down until Binani’s mandate is certified in justification of the choice of the electorates.
It took the pleading of the fellow Youths with the assurance that justice would be dispensed rather than dismissed at the higher court, now that the federal high court judgment is challenged before the appeal court.
Some of the youths agitating for Binani’s mandate interviewed at the scene of the incident lamented that the APC leadership at the state level was not helping matters, “the APC state executives seem to be comfortable with the judgement. Instead of calming down the temper, they keep saying that the party has no governorship candidate. We’re worried that their body language and utterances suggest taking a side away from Binani.
“This protest is not just about the federal high court judgment, it is also about the unconcerned executive members of the APC, a call for caution not to do anything contrary to the interest of the electorates…”
Yunusa Mohammed, a social commentator, taking the literary angle, articulated that “what is happening in Adamawa state is a wake up call where women and youth have formed an unconscious coalition to challenge a process they conceived would end up disenfranchising their political interests.
“It started like a joke. It is however liken to fermentation process, liken as well to a time bomb waiting to explode; a leaderless, unsponsored revolution is difficult to suppressed you know. Only justice and fairness will it submit to in this respect.
“However, the groups embarking on the peace protest walk need to be addressed, even through the media by the state executive of the party. They need a kind of assurance in tune with their interest,” Mohammed would say.
