…Fintiri for Continuity endorsement; Like CAN Like Muslim Council as alleged
…From the allegation of N10m for a rented Fatwa Warriors against Binani for Governor, to another alleged endorsement of Fintiri’s reelection bid by the Muslim Council that is accused of being ineffective in challenging the allegations of lopsided employments, bias in appointments and promotions, and the allocation of land to the Muslim Ummah to also build Islamic university…
…Does Muslim Council’s no consultation, no consensus considered conclusion, if at all, over the choice of a governorship candidate in Adamawa state, as alleged, have any influence on the electorate Ummah?
…There’s the need for a press conference by the State leadership of the Muslim Council to clear the weighty allegation that is capable of passing a vote of no confidence in the leadership in general; a call for total resignation…
The Secretary Michika local government branch of the Muslim Council, Malam Abdulrahman Maina Yaji said he has tendered his resignation from the voluntary service over alleged endorsement of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for continuity in the face of misgiving challenges.
The secretary in a statement said he resigned on March 7, 2023, because the state leadership of the Council has not only unilaterally endorsed Fintiri’s political ambition but also resolved to work for his victory at the polls even though the entire governorship candidates in the state are Muslims.
“The selfish and partisan activities of the Adamawa state leadership of the Muslim Council, have become a source of serious concern to the well-meaning Muslim Ummah of Adamawa state.
“An organisation that’s supposed to be apolitical, has unfortunately become supporters and form a campaign team for the ruling PDP, championing for the re-election of Fintiri.
“This they exhibited by visiting all the 21 Local governments in Adamawa state meeting with the local branches to inform them that the council has endorsed Fintiri and that Muslim ummah are directed through the local branches to inform and mobilize the Muslim ummah to vote for PDP/Fintiri.
“The most unfortunate of their position is that they deviated from the constitution that they are supposed to protect.
“As the Secretary of Muslim Council, Michika Branch, I resolved to resign from the position. I was elected (Secretary) to protect my integrity and conscience.
“With this development, it is crystal clear that the ummah is divided,” Yaji said.
Could the leadership of the Muslim Council be so uncritical, so unstrategic, so unculculative and so naively inconsiderate of the reactions of the Ummah that would follow the rather arbitrary resolution ends in arrogating to self the perception and the choice of the Ummah as electorates of a particular as favoured candidate and political party over others, which could give the cause to a call, agitating for their total and complete resignations suggestive of a total and complete lack of confidence?
The reaction of the leadership of Adamawa Muslim Council to the unfortunate development, taken as unreal, should necessarily attract a press conference.
