The election petition tribunal sitting in Yola, Adamawa state has slated 12 noon, Thursday, July 20, 2023 for the hearing of the suit filed by the governorship candidate of the APC in Adamawa state, Distinguished Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed, a.k.a Binani and the APC as a party, challenging the results that produced and the declaration of Rt Hon Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, a.k.a Fresh Air, as winner of the 2023 governorship election, after having been earlier declared by the INEC as the Governor Elect following the results of the election the petitioner considered as genuine, commensurable to what the IREV would present.
The date given for the commencement of the hearing followed the conclusion of the pre hearing with the submission of documents as evidence to the case by both the counsels to the petitioner and the respondents.
Whilst the Fintiri supporters who wished for the dismissal of the suit right at the pre hearing argued that the case is an exercise in futility with the Governor having been sworn in, Speaking after the court hearing, one of the representatives of Binani the petitioner, Alhaji Umar Mustapha Madawaki, a.k.a Otumba of Ekiti revealed that what remained dead on arrival before the law is the prayer to squash the petition filed by Binani and the APC.
“If there’s no hope of victory, the case wouldn’t in the first instance be filed. Recall that the suit was challenged at the pre hearing by the respondents, seeking for its dismissal. Their submission wasn’t convincing before the law. Therefore, the hearing would commence at 12pm on Thursday, July 20, after which the accelerated sitting would be held on a daily basis except on Sundays. This alone is a sign of victory” Otumba said.
The Jagaban Jimeta, Elder Sunny Sylvester Moniedafe, who has been consistent in attending to the court sitting said victory for Binani and the APC is written everywhere, having sued for patience, he prayed for God of justice to actualise the victory.
“It isn’t over with the INEC declaration and the subsequent swearing in, until it’s finally over before the law, considering the fact that in the case of Adamawa state, it’s the court that decides the elected,” Political pundit.
