…Counsels to submit cited authorities within 4 days…
- Whether or not the court would quash the case in favour of Fintiri and two others’ prayer
- Whether or not the court would completely disqualify and order for a fresh governorship election
- Whether or not the court would consider Binani prayers to exorcize the process from massive malpractices and validate the hero in Hudu’s earlier declaration; announcing the lone female governorship candidate – being referred to as the Governor-In-Waiting – as the duly returned elected
…Adamawa governorship election petition tribunal, a most interesting case due to its dual rather binary governor elect declarations; where the adoption of written address would have to take two days even while that of the presidential election petition was done in a day. Additionally, it’s the first and so far the only election petition tribunal in the country with the virtual court sitting via zoom – Political Pundits
The 14th and the 2nd virtual court sitting, the Adamawa state governorship election petition tribunal Thursday, reserved for judgment the petition filed by Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed, a.k.a Binani against Rt Hon Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, a.k.a Fresh Air that was declared as duly elected, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) the umpire under which two declarations were made of the governor’s elect and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) under which umbrella the Fresh Air found suitable the breeze to contest, challenging INEC’s second declaration of Governor Fintiri as the returned elected.
Binani, through her tough Counsel as the petitioner, would want the tribunal to declare her as the legitimately elected, following the irregularities as observed even by the INEC Commissioner for Adamawa state, Hudu Yunusa Ari Esq, to have made the first declaration of Binani as the winner of the 2023 governorship election.
The Fresh Air, the INEC and the PDP through their Counsels as respondents on the other hand, would want the court to quash the Binani petition and legitimise the second INEC governorship election.
The adoption of the written addresses have taken two days virtual court sittings via zoom, to enable the Counsels to both the petitioner and respondents articulate their points rather exhaustively, after which they were given four days within which to submit the cited authorities.
Adjourning the sitting, the tribunal said a date would be communicated for judgment soon.
