…It’s unbelievable! Unacceptable! Something Is definitely amis, the upper court – Dickson
…It’s not over until it’s ultimately over. It’s only a temporary set back and shall be challenged. We’re heading to appeal court – Otunba
…It’s unfortunate! The same Judiciary that says once documentary evidence is provided there’s no need for witnesses to speak to them as per section 176, now says a different thing – Sajoh
- Binani, sues for calm against unguided, unguarded utterances, thuggery…
The pro Binani APC in Adamawa state has described the tribunal’s judgment, which dismissed the petition filed by its governorship candidate Saturday, considered to be lacking merit, as unfortunate, unbelievable and unacceptable, more especially as it was announced by some online media hours prior to the passing of judgment.
The APC governorship candidate in Adamawa state, Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed, a.k.a Binani has filed a petition before the Adamawa Governorship Election Tribunal, challenging the declaration of PDP’s Rt Hon Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri as the duly elected governor.
The tribunal has however dismissed the petition, stating that the petitioner (Binani) did not prove any of the allegations of acts of thuggery, arson, mutilation of results, bribery, violence and over voting against the respondents, adding that there was no witness called by the petitioner who spoke to the documents before the court as to any area of non-compliance as alleged.
Hon Ahmed Sajoh has however observed that “the same tribunal that upheld that once documentary evidence is provided, there is no need for witnesses to speak to them as per section 176, is now holding the contrary. There’s a mix-up somehow.
The tribunal equally disqualified REC Hudu Ari’s declaration of Binani winner of the governorship election, stating that the role and duties of the REC are purely Administrative and supervisory.
Binani supporters would argue however that in supervision as a worthy REC, hero Hudu has observed irregularities in the electioneering processes, therefore the way he knew how to address the challenges was the declaration of Binani against being shortchanged.
While some of the APC members nursing antipathy to Binani for governor, deploying gender sentiment as an excuse for the anti-party have joined the PDP in the celebration of the victory at the tribunal, Alhaji Umar Mustapha, Otunba of Ekiti would observe the “it’s not over until it’s ultimately over, it’s only a temporary set back and shall be challenged. We’re heading to appeal court”.
“You can notice that some online media have announced the judgment hours prior to the jury’s passage of judgment. Are they among the judges? What or who’s their source of the script?
