The harmful effect of Tobacco and other substances on the well-being of the people has necessitated, the Njir Hoba Multipurpose Cooperative Group also known as “Njir Hoba” to inaugurate a club that would enlighten people, particularly youths in Kulinyi District on the need to abstain themselves from smoking.
Inaugurating the Club Thursday in Kala’a, sponsored by Mrs Dabney Shall-Holma, Adamawa State Coordinator -Tabacco and Other Harmful Substances Engr. Umaru Hassan said members of the club would time to time interact with the community to find lasting solution to the menace.
He explained that the club would serve as a springboard towards total eradication of smoking in Kulinyi District, Hong local government area and by extension Adamawa State as a whole.
The State Coordinator reminded members of the club that their selection was a call to service aimed at having a healthy society devoid of smokers.
He stressed the need for parents to ensure they cultured their children on the effect of smoking to their health and the society.
In a remark, the District Head of Kulinyi Alh Shuaibu Manaunda who expressed delight with the formation of the club, lauded the initiator of the programme Mrs Margaret Kwa’ala Julius, noted that it was first of its kind in the history of Huba land that such programme come on board.
He commended the zeal and doggedness of the State Coordinator of the Club Engineer Hassan Umar Uding for ensuring the formation of the club in the district, which would go a long way towards combating the menace of smoking in the district and Hong local government area as a whole.
Alh Manaunda pledged to ensure the sustenance of the District for the benefits of younger generations.
The Coordinator Kulinyi District of the club, Evangelist Kemuel Sa’ad Wilberforce witnessed the event.
