Fully armed criminals, have a while ago killed one police officer and injured three others in Lafiya local government, southern senatorial district of Adamawa state, northeast Nigeria.
The gangsters were reported to commit such heinous act against the state while resting arrest of the gangleader who has been on a wanted list.
The press release Saturday, issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Sulaiman Yahaya Nguroje revealed that “on Saturday, April 24, 2021, between the hours of 12 to 1am the Command’s operatives attached to Numan Division were attacked by about 60 fully armed hoodlums in Lafiya while trying to effect arrest of accused on the wanted list, in a case of criminal conspiracy and theft under investigation.
“Following the attack, one officer, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, Ibrahim Abdullahi paid the supreme price while three others sustained various injuries.
“The Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Adamu Alhaji, commiserates with the family and friends of the deceased officer.
“The CP warned that consequences await any person or group of persons who, under whatever guise, engage in an unwarranted attack on any police officer and directs all Command DPOs, HODs and Operational Commanders to employ all legally permissible measures to protect their lives and properties.
“Meanwhile, investigation is still ongoing and the perpetrators of the dastardly incident will be prosecuted in due course.
“The police command calls on members of the public to desist forthwith from attacking officers on duty and police facilities.
