Adamawa State Executive Council has approved over fifty six million naira as consultancy fee for the supervision of about forty kilometers Pella-Maiha road.
The council has also ratified the contract award for the rehabilitation of thirty-three KV line and township distribution transformers in Madagali and Michika local government areas.
The Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Dr Umar Garba Pella revealed this while briefing newsmen shortly after the council meeting Wednesday, held at the banquet hall of the government House in Yola.
Pella said government has decided to engage Mssrs A4 Associates Limited to monitor and ensure timely delivery of Pella-Maiha road project with quality standard to be able to have access to rural areas in the state.
Dr Garba regretted that the road project, which was awarded in year 2007 was abandoned by successive administrations in Adamawa State but assured that it would soon be completed.
On the ratified electrification project, the commissioner said the work awarded last year would cover Madagali, Gulak, Shuwa, Michika, Wotu and Bazza at the cost of over two hundred and eighty three million naira.
According to Pella, the emergency measure was taken by the government to ensure that those towns hit by activities of insurgents resulting to vandalizing electricity cables in the areas are back to normal for the returning people to live comfortable lives.
Corroborating, the Commissioner of Works and Energy Development, Alhaji Adamu Atiku Abubakar said the abandoned Pella-Maiha road was initially awarded at the cost of about three billion naira but was reviewed to nine billion naira.
He stressed that engaging consultants was necessary for the timely completion of the work.
According to Atiku, the contract has reached about 40% completion following the engagement of the consultants.
