Rt Hon Ahamadu Umaru Fintiri led government has disbursed startup kids to 1,000 youths and women trained on Information and Communication Technology, (ICT) across the state.
In his remarks at the disbursements, which was held in a ceremony on Thursday at Mahmud Ribadu Square in Yola, Governor Fintiri is quoted as saying that the right weapon to fight poverty is to create more businesses and skills outside the public sector, an avenue where global prosperity is hidden.
Fintiri noted that the trainee graduation ceremony marked another milestone in his administration’s commitment to making youths and women self-sufficient and self-reliant, as one of the cardinal points of the eleven point agenda.
Commenting on the development, the electorates pointed out that the initiative would have been better celebrated with prayers if at the inception of the administration, the government has thought of revamping the skills acquisition centres established by the former Governor Murtala Hammanyero Nyako, a.k.a Baba Maimangoro, which was left moribund and abandoned.
“From the day the skills acquisition centres were closed down with the untimely termination of the Nyako led administration to this day, only God knows how many more youths and women would have been empowered to have contributed in the poverty alleviation and boosting the revenue of the state, “Elkana James, an electorates contributing to the Adamawa Youth Initiative, would lament.
The electorates have also observed that Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed, a.k.a Binani, representing the Adamawa central senatorial district, has drilled more than 1,000 youths and women with different entrepreneurship skills to be able to be self-sufficient and self-reliant.
One would have wondered how Asia would have been in Adamawa youth made deploying the pragmatic otherwise referred to as functional system of education; how skills acquisition centres would have been revamped rather apolitical, if the amazing amazon were to be the chief executive and accounting officer of the state.
