The APC governorship candidate in Adamawa state, Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed, a.k.a Binani has eventually spoken. She gave reasons the governorship election results in Adamawa state are unacceptable and the inconclusive declaration commendable.
While earlier in the day, in a TV discussion programme monitored by the Channels, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State condemned the position of the INEC for declaring governorship election as inconclusive that he should simply have been declared returned elected; that subjecting the election results to review would be unnecessary and that the margin was wide enough to give him victory anytime the supplementary elections are conducted, Binani has a while ago, also on Channels TV discussion programme, commended the INEC. She said the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) did very well declaring the results as inconclusive because the election was marred by violence, rigging, over voting and that the INEC returning officer was made to declare the manipulated results under duress. She accused Governor Fintiri of desperation and for being overambitious; he wanted to be declared winner of the fraudulent election at all cost with the concocted figures.
Binani was brief, precise and straightforward. She pointed out that BVAS were bypassed in most of the local governments given as reason for such stupendous ghost addition scores and that evidences abound.
“Results for a member state house of assembly were declared for the governor,” Binani pointed out the Macbeth like overambition for a self-succession, appearing as a mirage.
On intimidation, Binani cited instances with Song violence in which a commissioner as member of Fintiri’s cabinet and local government chairman with their thugs playing the role of security operatives have turned to “barbarian hordes, Hyena foemen and hot-blooded lords” with a hundred clubs stormed, the INEC returning officer’s heart, currently receiving treatment in a hospital – moralising John Keats’ “Eve of St Agnes” – and that similar intimidating incidents were experienced in Michika, Madagali and Fufore local governments where the governor himself with his lieutenants participated in the act defined as intimidation.
In Michika and Madagali local governments for instance, the results as presented, were beyond the number of the electorate in the locality.
Binani called on the INEC to review the Adamawa governorship election results based solely on iREV in the 16 local governments where BVAS were bypassed and figures fictitiously concocted, before supplementary election can be considered. This made her stand and it is the position her lawyer maintained and the prayers the INEC ought to favorably honor.
Someone would ask, why is it that the PDP in, and Adamawa governorship candidate would find it suffocating the air about reviewing the elections results based on the iREV before the supplementary elections? Supporting the review, the Binani’s would argue that clinically, the first step for cure, for sure, is to clean the wounds before dressing it, with a view to prevent sepsis contamination.
