Thousands of people throng Central Bank of Nigeria in Yola, to deposit the old naira notes that are no longer valid for transactions.
The Central Bank of Nigeria has declared that the old ₦200, ₦500 and ₦1000 notes would no longer be accepted as legal tender. The only window opening is to deposit the old currency at the CBN branches across the country
The long queue at the CBN in Yola is said to be a reflection of the queues in all the CBN branches across the country.
The Supreme Court has adjourned the hearing of the case filed by some Governors challenging the CBN to continue accepting old Naira notes.
The question in the minds of the citizenry is whether or not the Supreme Court has locus standi to entertain the against the CBN filed before it by the aggrieved governors.
